Vivek Oberoi not relenting

When the Tamil film industry and its highest body FEFSI requested the Bollywood compatriots not to go to Sri Lanka for the IIFA, almost all the super stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Abishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan and all others who matters, stayed away from the event that was held in the first week of June.

The SIFCC even passed a legislation to ban the artistes who go to Sri Lanka. But the event went ahead with mostly not so important stars. The popular ones who made it to IIFA throwing the request of SFCC and FEFSI were Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu and Sunil Shetty.

After the event the SFCC and FEFSI immediately swung into action and pulled Hrithik’s ‘Kites’ out of theatres and slapped a ban on other stars and their films. Prabhu Deva and Saran dropped Salman Khan from their films and Ram Gopal Varma was asked to get rid of Vivek Oberoi from ‘Ratka Charithra’.

But Vivek Oberoi is even more daring to challenge the decisions of the south Indian film industry. Vivek went outside IIFA and visited other places in Sri Lanka at the government’s invitation showing solidarity with the Sri Lankan government.

Now going another step further Vivek Oberoi has attended a mass marriage ceremony as the guest of Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son and parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.

The Sri Lankan government on Sunday conducted a mass marriage to 53 couples, who were said to be erstwhile Tamil rebels in a camp in Vavuniya. Vivek Oberoi attended the ceremony along with Namal Rajapaksa.
