Thilakan threatens to launch agitation

Veteran Malayalam actor Thilakan has threatened to launch an agitation against the State government if it fails to act on his complaint regarding denial of work.

Addressing a press conference in Alappuzha on Tuesday, Thilakan said he had lodged a complaint with Culture Minister M.A. Baby in January, stating that he was denied work in the Malayalam film Christian Brothers.

The actor had called up the minister the next day. The Minister, who was in New Delhi, had reportedly assured the actor that he would take up the matter. But nothing has been done even after four months, he said.

Thilakan said he would stage street plays to ‘expose the government's double standards'. The double standards were evident as the government had dealt with the release issues of Mammootty's latest Pokkiri Raja. M.A. Baby had taken the lead in resolving issues and ensuring a smooth release, he alleged.
