J C Daniel award for Sethumadhavan


Veteran director K S Sethumadhavan will be honoured with J C Daniel award for contributions to Malayalam cinema. The biggest award from Malayalam industry was announced by M A Baby, state minister for Culture and education, who added that the director has taken significant measures to link movies with literature, through his movies.

Sethumadhavan had directed movies in all the South Indian languages, his debut being the Singhalese film ‘Veera Vijayam’. The director whose first film in Malayalam was Njana Sundharai later made many classics like Aranazhikaneram, Vaazhve Maayam, Kadalpalam, Odayil Ninnu and Adimakal, adopting the gems of Malayalam literature. His Tamil movie ‘Marupakkam’ has earlier bagged the National award for the best movie in the nineties.
