‘Raavanan’: The wait is nearly over

With a formal announcement coming from Madras Talkies that plans would be open from Wednesday at cinema halls screening ‘Raavanan’, excitement has doubled for those who have planned to watch the film on the first day.

Source in Chennai theatres say they had already been getting enquiries on bulk bookings for the first day and the ensuing weekend, not to forget about demand for special shows from Vikram fans and various other organisations.

“Everything about ‘Raavanan’ is big- be it the director, the star cast or the music composer. So the expectation is also on a never before high. No doubt ‘Raavanan’ is by far the biggest release this year,” says a source at a popular multiplex.

Expressing hope that the Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus starring their matinee idol would do well in the box office, M Suryanarayanan, president, All India Chiyaan Vikram Fans' Welfare Association, says, “We are sure that all the three versions (Tamil, Hindi and Telugu) will run to packed houses.”

Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam, along with wife Suhasini and the stars of ‘Raavanan’, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyamani addressed a media briefing in Hyderabad on Monday on the film’s Telugu version ‘Villain’.
