Actor Bala Weds Amrutha Suresh on September this year


“I am clueless why Tamil directors don’t find me apt to their films. At the same time, Malayalam filmmakers are giving me chances again and again. I have acted in 22 Mollywood movies so far,” says Bala.

The ‘Anbu’ and ‘Kadhal Kisukisu’ actor says, “I hail from a family which has its roots in cinema. My grandfather ran the famous Arunachalam Studios and was instrumental behind the debut of many popular directors and actors.”

Saying he is getting ready to enter wedlock, Bala adds: “I am in love with singer Amrutha. Our wedding will take place with the blessings of elders in both the families in September this year.”

The actor has plans to make it big in Tamil. “I will start acting in a Tamil film after my marriage. The movie will be produced by myself and directed my elder brother Siva. It is a love story with ingredients that appeal to youngsters.”

Khushbu in Bollywood!


Khushbu seems to a happy person these days, especially after winning the 22 criminal cases against her in Supreme Court. "I now know I can speak my mind freely, that freedom of speech does exist in our country and we've a completely dependable judiciary. The reason why I fought against all odds was my daughters. I had to tell them that their mother is strong and they should be proud of her," she said to a leading English daily. The lady is all set to return to Hindi films. "Govinda and me are bum-chums. I say to his wife Sunita, "I've let you have him for 26 years. I can still run away with him.' We're just a phone call away from each other," she added.

Kamal Haasan and me: Trisha

It was my dream to act with Kamal Haasan right from the day I entered film industry. I was on cloud nine when I was roped in for ‘Marmayogi’. But the joy didn’t last long as the film was stopped due to unavoidable reasons,” says Trisha.

“And I am on cloud nine again,” the actress says and adds: “Because, I am there in Kamal sir’s next film. I signed the film simply after hearing the story over the phone. How could I reject an offer to work with such a genius?”

Heaping laurels on the ‘Ulaga Nayagan’, she says, “He is one of the most intelligent persons I have ever met. He is a master of all subjects and knows anything and everything. You can discuss with him whatever you want.”

On her Hindi debut ‘Khatta Meetha’, directed by Priyadarshan with Akshay Kumar in the lead, Trisha says, “Most part of the shoot is over and a 15-day schedule alone is left. The film has come out well and it’s going to be a perfect launch for me in Bollywood. I enjoyed acting with Akshay Kumar”.

Action King Arjun is Superhero


‘Action King’ Arjun needs a hit badly to salvage his career as an action hero. Younger action heroes are breathing down his neck, so he has to reinvent himself.

Arjun has teamed up with his favourite director A Venkatesh. The duo are now all set to start their big budget action movie Vallakkottai, where he will play a larger-than-life superhero for the first time.

Arjun is roping in foreign technicians to do the action choreography. The buzz is that the film will be a cross between Batman and Spiderman. Does that man Arjun will fly in the air?

Vallakkottai will have Kannada acress Haripriya as the leading lady with Suresh who was recently seen in Aasal doing a role with grey shades.

Mani Ratnam's Raavan for Cannes?


It looks like Mani Ratnam’s Raavan is likely to be premiered at the world's most prestigious film festival at Cannes.

Mani has already applied to premiere the film at the 63rd edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

The Hindi original Raavan will be premiered on May 14 at the festival.

Abhishek, Aishwarya, Mani Ratnam and Vikram are likely to take part in the red carpet premiere of the film.

Arya got Rs 2 crores to play villain in Varudu?


It is Arya’s big day as he is making his debut as villain in Allu Arjun’s Telugu film Varudu directed by hit maker Gunasekhar. If the film, releasing today, clicks Arya will have a new market in Tollywood.

The market buzz is that Arya was paid 2 crores to play the bad guy. The producers were forced to cough up the amount as Arya is a top Kollywood hero. But Arya says:” I took up the villain role because it has equal footage to that of the hero’s character and it looks interesting.”

Varudu is releasing big worldwide including four screens in Chennai. Adding to the suspense the actress who is playing heroine has been kept a closely guarded secret.

No photograph of her has been released to the media and her name has been kept under the wraps.

Priyanka Chopra Refuses Hollywood, Gains Bhardwaj Flick!

April could have kickstarted an august beginning for Priyanka Chopra. And would have signalled a Hollywood dawn for Chopra… had she nodded assent to 'Dawn of War', helmed by Tarsem Singh.

Incidentally, the dates were being worked out in April at the same time for Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Saat Khoon Maaf'. PC had to make the unenviable choice: Hollywood 'Dawn… or B Town 'Saat..'

Reportedly, Chopra wasted no precious moments in vacillating and… swiftly agreed to frontline Bhardwaj's flick. Incidentally, PC was handed over the bound script of 'Dawn of War', whilst canning scenes for 'Anjaana Anjaani' in the US.

After Chopra swatted down the offer, Singh lassoed in Freida Pinto for the coveted role alongside British actor Henry Cavill. Chopra, presently, is filming for Bhardwaj's flick in freezing Gulmarg and Srinagar.

I have that freedom to speak: Kushboo


Kushboo is all smiles these days, with support coming to her comments on premarital sex from a body no lesser than Supreme Court. The apex court’s observation that there was nothing illegal about live-in relationships and premarital sex amongst adults has boosted the morale of the actress.

Says Kushboo, who is known for her fearless remarks irrespective of the issue she is talking about, “We have a completely dependable judiciary. And I feel it now more than ever. The Supreme Court’s direction clearly shows freedom of speech does exist in India.”

On her five-year legal battle, the actress, who earned the wrath of many organisations when she made the comments in 2005, says, “I fought for my daughters. Because, I have to tell them that they should feel proud of their mom.”

She adds: “I am now clear that I can speak my mind freely. At the same time, I know my limits and responsibilities. I would like to thank my family members, friends and well-wishers who have supported me all these years.”

Mohanlal croons for another hit


Megastar Mohanlal has been instrumental in selecting sings for himself to sing, which has the potential to become chart toppers. From his songs in ‘Chithram’, the superstar has been able to convert a dozen of songs into super hits. Last year his hit song as a playback singer was “Annarakanna Vaa” from ‘Bhramaram’, which is the favorite of many, even today.

For 2010, Mohanlal has selected a song for his new movie 'Oru Naal Varum’ and has lended his voice to it. The song which goes like ''Nathoone, Nathoone'' is penned by poet Murukam Kattakkada and is set to music by playback singer M G Sreekumar.

This is the third film of M G Sreekumar as a music director in Malayalam. He had been appreciated for his musical scores for the National award wining Tamil movie ‘Kancheevaram’.

'Oru Naal Varum' scripted by Sreenivasan features Sameera Reddy as the heroine. The movie will be completed in a single schedule which will get on till the last week of April.

Kangna Ranaut Injured while shooting

Things took unexpected twist when, Kangna Ranaut met with an accident during the shoot of Anand Rai's ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

The unit was in Jalandhar shooting an action sequence. The scene involved Kangna to ride a bike with a pillion rider. However, in the course of the shoot they lost balance, the bike skid and fell on the actress’s foot. Moreover, the anklets which Kangna was wearing pierced her leg and aggravated the pain further. Immediately the team came to her aid and rushed her to nearest hospital.

Hospital reports revealed serious damage while producer Shailesh Singh stated that Kangna has a minor fracture and has been advised bed rest for at least a week. Besides, they have arranged for the best orthopaedic surgeon for her.

While the film’s shoot has come to a standstill, the producers will later sit over to reschedule their shooting plan. At the moment they are very concerned about the actress.

Director Anand Rai recalled that even while the actress was fighting the pain in hospital, she was concerned about the next shooting schedule.

Telugu Actor Balakrishna hospitalized


Veteran Telugu actor Balakrishna has been admitted in Care Hospital, Banjara Hills after he suffered severe pain from a wound on his left foot during the shooting of a song in Mysore for his forthcoming film Simha. Sources said the actor was wounded some months ago on the set of Mitrudu and the wound was infected from the last few days. His doctors have reportedly performed minor surgery and advised him to rest for at least a week. Dr. Saleem told the media that Balakrishna can continue his work after a week's rest. Apart from the ongoing song, one song is yet to be shot in Jordan. As of now, the shooting of the film has been postponed till Balakrishna recovers completely. The film's release too has been postponed to May. Simha is directed by Boyapati Srinu and produced by Parachuri Prasad under the banner of United Movies. Nayantara, Namitha and Sneha Ullal are the heroines.

This time we are not talking about Meera Jasmine who has accomplished much as a actor of calibre, but about the other young Meera Nandan, who debuted into Mollywood with ‘Mulla’.

This TV presenter turned actress is finding plenty of projects around her. The actress is presently appearing as a college student in the new movie ‘Oridathoru Postman’ with Kunchakko Boban and Sarath Kumar.

Simbu - Lingusamy Team up


Lingusamy’s ‘Paiyaa’ starring Karthi and Tamannah will see the light on April 2 and Lingusamy will start work on his next starring Silambarasan. Silambarasan joins the team of Lingusamy for the first time with this film.

It was expected that Silambarasan will start his directorial ‘Vaaliban’ before Lingusamy’s film because Lingusamy was busy in releasing ‘Paiyaa’ and did not reveal any dates or plans for his film with Silambarasan.

But Tirupati Brothers sources say Lingusamy will start shooting with Silambarasan in first week of June and the new project is a romantic action film much suiting the image of Silamabrasan. Brinda Sarathy is expected to pen the dialogues for this film also.

No time for TV: Kareena Kapoor


The reigning Bollywood queen is not keen for TV. Even when the show is solely based on her -titled “Main Kareena Kapoor Banna Chahti Hoon”.

Bollywood size zero quotient Kareena was offered a staggering amount for the show but due to her prior movie and brand commitments Kareena had to decline the flattering offer.

The show involved interaction of the contestants with Kareena coming from hook and corner of the country sharing their Bollywood dreams.

But Kareena has her hands full this year with seven releases; she has just begun shooting for ‘Ra1’ with SRK. Then she will be busy with ‘Golmaal 3’, ‘Agent Vinod’ with Saif Ali Khan and an untitled film with Madhur Bhandarkar. And of course her impressive list of brands will keep the B-town beauty busy leaving no time for television.

But hold on, Kareena might be available for TV in 2011 so TV walas should not be disappointed.

Says Kareena, “Television is an option that I definitely find exciting, but I would much rather concentrate on one thing now. So it is films for the moment”

Hrithik Roshan's debut song launched on 29th March


Reliance Big Pictures and Rakesh Roshan's highly-anticipated film Kites unfolds yet another surprise! Kites marks the debut of actor Hrithik Roshan as a singer on the silver screen. To commemorate this, Reliance Big Pictures is launching the music of the film on national television by airing Hrithik's debut song 'Kites in the sky' in English, along with some behind-the-scenes footage on 29th March at 9.30 p.m. across 40 television channels.

In a statement issued to the media, Hrithik says, "I was nervous to make my debut as a singer, considering I come from a family that is well known in the world of music, but for this very reason my chacha [Rajesh Roshan] and director Anurag Basu were most certain that I could sing. I have given this song my best and honest shot, but I still don't consider myself a professional singer."

Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam goes to May!


Chimbudevan’s Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam (IKMS), the first cowboy film in Tamil release has once again been postponed. IKMS was originally scheduled to release on March 26, but was postponed to April 9.

Now as per trade sources, the producers Kalpathi S.Aghoram of AGS Entertainment has pushed it to May 7. They feel it is the ideal time to get the family audiences to come to the theatre.

The trade feels the film has been pushed to get a solo big release as by the time Paiyaa and Sura, would have been released.

IKMS trump card is Chimbudevan, the trend setting director of the super hit Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi and its cowboy theme backed by strong producers.

The trouble is that its cast has no fire power at the box-office. Lawrence as a hero is yet to prove himself at the box-office.

Actress Anushka in Panchakshari Movie


Mass director V Samudra, who made an unsuccessful attempt with the heroine-oriented film Mallepuvvu, starring Bhumika last year, is now gearing up for the second such film.

This time, the heroine is none other than Anushka, who ripped out a sensation with her Arundhati all over the state. The film is titled as Panchakshari. Akkineni Nagarjuna is the presenter.

Sairatna Creations banner is making the film, with Bommadevara Ramachandra Rao producing it. Anushka says: "Ramachandra has been asking me to do a film for him right from the start of my career in Tollywood. I told them that I would definitely honour his request, but it would take some time as I had to settle first.

"Now, I feel great to be keeping my word. There would be no link between my previous film, Arundhati, and Panchakshari."

The film would be finished in three schedules and is set to release in April.

Rajnikanth in Sultan - The Warrior


“He is a director’s delight, that's why we have been able to achieve a finish not even attempted in India so far,” coos a proud Soundarya Rajinikanth when queried about her soon-to-release Sultan - The Warrior and how life-like Rajinikanth's animated avatar appears. Image Matrix, that did that fabulous work on Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, has worked on the facial expressions of the animated characters in Sultan..., says Soundarya. The movie has cost close to $5 million and has been in the making for nearly four years.

The latest buzz is that the director has planned some special scenes in which Superstar Rajinikanth will appear as a real person in one role, that of a human being.

Actress Vimala Raman debuts in Bollywood

After doing a few movies in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, Bharatanatyam dancer-turned-actress Vimala Raman is finally making her debut in Bollywood! Her first Hindi film will be Amrapali, a remake of the 1966 classic with the same title with Vyjantimala Bali in the lead role of a courtesan; the same role will now be enacted by Vimala Raman. According to sources, the film will be directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, maker of Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai Bacchan starrer Jodha Akbar and Aamir Khan’s Lagaan.

Some say Salman Khan has been approached to play the lead role in Amrapali (the original had Sunil Dutt); others say Salman's relative will be the hero; the rest of the cast will be finalized shortly. Sources close to Vimala Raman say she is very elated with this big offer with a correspondingly huge fee. Vimala has given 90 days call sheet for this project.

Recently, she has also signed her maiden English film titled Dame 999.

Producer Parachuri Kiriti: We have completed the shooting except for two songs. And those two songs are to be filmed on Balakrishna, Namitha and Sneha Ullal and the other one on Balakrishna and Sneha Ullal. We are hoping to release it in the second week of April.

Nayanthara is said to be playing an important role in the movie. Chakri scores the music and the songs are to be released by the end of this month.

Ricky Martin admits he's gay!

Putting an end to years of speculation over his sexuality, pop star Ricky Martin has admitted that he is gay.

Martin, who fathered two children with a surrogate mother two years ago, stated on his website that he felt 'blessed to be who he was', reports The BBC.

'Today I have accepted my homosexuality as a gift that gives me life,' said the 38-year-old.

The Puerto Rican star said his decision to write his memoirs had helped him to free 'things that were too heavy to keep inside'.

Vaishali Kannadasan in Yavarum Kelir


We know that Kamal Haasan's upcoming venture with K.S. Ravikumar has been tentatively titled Yavarum Kelir and is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under Red Giant Movies banner. Recently, Trisha and Madhavan were also signed for prominent roles in the film. Now the latest person to join the crew is Vaishali Kannadasan, the poetess daughter of legendary lyricist Kannadasan. She is expected to play a prominent role in the film.

Tollywood music director Devi Sri Prasad, who made a mark in Kollywood with the hits Sachin, Mazhai and Santhosh Subramaniam will be the music director.

Raavan Audio Launch in April!

It's official! The audio of ace director Mani Ratnam's much-awaited Tamil-Hindi bilingual Raavan will be launched in April. Sources say the director has retained the title Raavan for all the versions.

There is no need of any introduction when it come to Mani Ratnam, because his very name pulls crowds to theatres. Raavan, said to be the modern adaptation of the epic Ramayana, revolves around Raavana, the ruler of Lanka, who kidnapped Sita. The story culminates with Sita supporting Raavana instead of Rama, who suspects her chastity after having spent so much time in Raavana’s custody.

Vikram plays the villain. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are the lead pair in Hindi, while Vikram will play the lead opposite Aishwarya in Tamil. Music is by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. The film is expected to grace theatres in June.

Actress Sada ready to forget bad experiences in Kannada Film Industry


After quitting the Kannada film industry with some "bad experience" while working in Mohini, popular South Indian beauty Sada of Jayam and Anniyan fame had been constantly rejecting Kannada films since 2006.

According to latest reports, the actress has now changed her mind and agreed to be the heroine in director R. Chandru's love story Mylari. "I had decided to return to Kannada films as many people told me that one bad experience are best forgotten and I should look forward for some good offers like Monalisa (her debut Kannada film)," said Sada.

In Mylari, Sada will be seen opposite Kannada superstar Shivaraj Kumar and the film will go on floors April 1. “We shortlisted three actresses Swathi, Sheela and Sada for this role and finally chose Sada because she suited the role well. And she showed a lot of interest in doing this flick," said Chandru.

Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio secretly dating?

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet is reportedly said to be having a secret affair with actor Leonardo DiCaprio following her divorce with director Sam Mendes.

"(During filming) Winslet became closer to Caprio than ever. And that became a problem, the more she drifted from Mendes, the closer she got to Caprio," whyfame.com quoted a source as saying.

Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio met on the sets of the Oscar winning movie Titanic and have been friends ever since.

Vivek Oberoi arrives late, charms the media!

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is making his presence felt in Kollywood now with the release of his tri lingual film Prince.

The film in Hindi and has been dubbed into Tamil and Telugu and will be releasing on April 9th. Produced by Tips, the film is directed by debutant Kookie Gulati.

Vivek was in Chennai last evening (March 29) to talk about his film to the media. Despite his flight being several hours late, the actor looked fresh and was highly enthusiastic to talk about his film, answering every media person with a smile, wit and a smattering of Tamil, winning everyone over immediately. “I am extremely sorry for keeping you all waiting so many hours but our flight was held up in Coimbatore and we spent hours sitting around at the airport,” were the first words he uttered.

Talking about Prince Vivek disclosed, “It’s a high action original story of the world’s greatest thief who discovers that someone has stolen his memory and he has only six days to live. He has to find out who he is and why the police and others are chasing him. He also has girl trouble with three girls claiming to be Maya, his lover.”

Talking about the action scenes he said, “I trained for 5 months in martial arts, parkours, skate boards, cable training etc before we shot the film in six months. It will appeal to kids, youth and the aged. I did all the stunts myself including a jump across 60 feet of space from a 32 feet high building to another terrace.”

He added, “Prince is a global film where international technology has been used to shoot action in an Indian movie. Resul Pookutty has done the sound for the action scenes and edited by international editor Nicolas from Paris who worked on Transporter earlier. The film needed special editors since it has been shot with 8 to 12 cameras and many editors here were not equipped to edit such a film.”

The film has a kissing scene for which he took many takes. Vivek blushed admitting it and giving the reason, “I had to kiss the heroine just before a high action scene and we had 300 unit members on the bridge staring at us. Plus many angles had to be got right and I was a bit nervous so yes, it did take a few extra takes. I am a very private person so the scene was tough for me to do.”

Talking about the Tamil dubbed version he said, “TN is a great place and I my mother was born here while my aunt and uncle live here even now. TN has always been a good market for my films and I felt it would be the right time to give the audiences here a high action international quality film from the makers of Race. Producer Kumar Taurani is the real Prince of the film being extremely passionate about cinema.”

The music is by Sachin Gupta who debuts and who has sung the songs in all three languages. The songs are already chartbusters in the US, UK, UAE and India claimed Vivek even as Sachin performed live for the audience.
